SINGLE SCREW PUMP

Single screw pumps belong to the group of positive displacement pumps, offering strong self-priming capability, long-lasting durability, and relatively low rotational speed. They are used for very high-viscosity fluids in industries such as: pumping FO and DO oil for oil tankers, oil-fired boilers, asphalt, sugar solution for sugar mills; in agriculture for sludge, wastewater containing sludge, etc. Depending on the application, specifications and materials can be selected accordingly.

Based on structure and operating principle, screw pumps are divided into three types: single screw pumps, twin screw pumps, and triple screw pumps.

• Single screw pump: has one driving screw.
• Twin screw pump: has two screws (one driving screw connected directly to an electric motor or diesel engine, and one driven screw).
• Triple screw pump: has three screws (one driving screw connected directly to an electric motor or diesel engine, and two driven screws).

The operation is mainly based on the rotary motion of the screw. When the screw rotates inside the pump chamber, it draws liquid from the inlet, conveys it to the outlet, and discharges it through the grooves along the screw.
